About TMR

I've played hockey my entire life and have always been a die hard Rangers fan. Now that I'm done chasing the dream, I play in a few beer leagues but it just isn't the same as the glory days. I started this blog a little over a year ago and it has since evolved into something I really enjoy. Do I one day aspire to be a professional sports writer? Possibly. My dream job is being a general manager of a professional hockey team. My mood is hopelessly attached to whether the Rangers win or lose on a given night. I despise Sidney Crosby, loathe Martin Brodeur, and think Ricky Dipietro uses more hair products than any man should ever use. My name is Ryan McFadden and I am the editor of The Manic Ranger blog. Be sure to comment whether you like what I have to say or not. I can be reached by e-mail at tmrangerblog (at) gmail.com

The Montreal Canadiens have signed free agent centre Mike Cammalleri to a five-year, $30 million contract, sources tell Sportsnet..

Earlier in the day Montreal signed free agent defenceman Hall Gill to a two-year, $4.5 million deal and defenceman Jaroslave Spacek to a four-year, $11.5 million contract.

I have to say I'm glad to hear this. I wouldnt want Cammalleri for a cap hit of $6 million per. It seems as though the Habs and Bob Gainey are making the same mistake Sather did with Gomez and Drury. The Canadiens now have $13.3 million in cap space committed to two undersized centers. So much for trying to get big down the middle huh? This is a signing that puzzles me because the Habs still don't have a number 1 winger to play with Gomez (same mistake the Rangers made as well)  and they've taken themselves out of the running for Havlat or Gaborik.

I'm pretty impressed that Sather has kept Dolan's wallet closed. It's highly likely that he's still in the running for Heatley and is awaiting the outcome of that before he pursues Gaborik or Havlat (neither of which I want unless Gaborik takes a short term deal). Mike Komisarek is still out there and he would be a nice fit if the Rangers can find a taker for Rozsival which shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe the Habs would be interested in him? ..jokes..
