About TMR

I've played hockey my entire life and have always been a die hard Rangers fan. Now that I'm done chasing the dream, I play in a few beer leagues but it just isn't the same as the glory days. I started this blog a little over a year ago and it has since evolved into something I really enjoy. Do I one day aspire to be a professional sports writer? Possibly. My dream job is being a general manager of a professional hockey team. My mood is hopelessly attached to whether the Rangers win or lose on a given night. I despise Sidney Crosby, loathe Martin Brodeur, and think Ricky Dipietro uses more hair products than any man should ever use. My name is Ryan McFadden and I am the editor of The Manic Ranger blog. Be sure to comment whether you like what I have to say or not. I can be reached by e-mail at tmrangerblog (at) gmail.com

Rangers Sign Thug Donald Brashear To 2 Year Deal At $1.4 Million Per

Hours after losing enforcer Colton Orr to the Toronto Maple Leafs in free agency, the New York Rangers agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Donald Brashear on a two-year, $2.8-million contract.

A small example of why Glen Sather is an incompetant general manager. Why let a younger and much more affective and capable Colton Orr walk for an older completely one diminesional Donald Brashear? I'm irate over this situation. Orr not a worthless thug and he is not a defensive liability and can take a regular shift. Brashear is near useless unless he's throwing a cheap shot or dropping the gloves. I have zero respect for Donald Brashear and him signing with the Rangers does not change that. I will continue to loathe him for the rest of his career. I'm disgusted that a person like Brashear will be calling Madison Square Garden home.

There's really nothing more to say. I'm utterly disgusted and thoroughly embarrassed that Donald Brashear is a Ranger. Even though the Rangers need a big enforcer to keep players like Chris Pronger honest, of everyone on the market the Rangers needed to sign Donald Brashear? Embarrassing. Putrid. A complete and total joke.

I'd rather have seen Dane Byers be given an opportunity and a regular shift on the 4th line than the hockey inept Brashear.

Brashear is an animal.

I agree EMBARRASSING.......... How low can it get when you go out and spend good money for a player who can do nothing but take penalties...... He should have been out of hockey... I will rethink watching the Rangers.......

Glen Sather is the biggest moron in the world of hockey, period. How could he let an enforcer who can actually play defense walk. Colton Orr was a great player for the Rangers. He plays hard, he stand up for his teammates, and he is heavyweight when it comes to fighting. To let him walk and then sign someone like Brashear is disgusting. I will never cheer for this guy no matter what he does for the Rangers. he is a goon, and i am embarrassed that he is now a Ranger.

Fellow fans,

This is a pretty smart move. If some of you happened to notice, at the end of last season, Colton Orr was only playing about 4-5 minutes per game under Tortorella, much much less ice time than he enjoyed under Renney. At only about 5-6 minutes per game, Brashear is exactly what the Rangers need. He will fight, he will hit, and do both very effectively. As much as I loved Colton Orr, Brashear is a much better fighter. If they were going to play 10-12 minutes, I would rather have Orr; but at only 6 minutes per game, I would rather have Brashear. Brashear strikes true fear into his opponents, something that Orr fails to do.

As a ranger fan living in England i cant really do anytinhg about it but PLEASE can the garden faithful do the right thing and make sure this sack of shit gets booed off the ice and the fool who signed him chased out of the garden before he tries to top this one. Might i suggest a chant of "cheap thug" or "bring back colton" i will be doing this myself but theres no way i can shout loud enough for the dumb bastards to hear me from here

new york is usually considered a classy organization....this move forever tarnishes that. it was a classless move by sather, it doesnt matter if brashier plays 2, 5, 12, or 20 minutes.....colton orr was classy and brashier is a dirtbag. no true rangers fan in their right mind is happy to see this move. if i had season tickets, i'd send them back....i wouldn't be paying to see brashier, you'd have to buy my seats for me.

I'll still go, just not look at him. It is embarrassing to have him on the Rangers, but I hate to agree that it'll fit the teams Torts is looking for. With him only going to play 5-6 minutes (hopefully) !) we wont have to see him as much and 2) He will strike fear in the other teams. I will miss that big smile Orr had after every fight though, and when he fucked up Cote. Can't ever forget that one, not even the stretcher hahaha.
