About TMR

I've played hockey my entire life and have always been a die hard Rangers fan. Now that I'm done chasing the dream, I play in a few beer leagues but it just isn't the same as the glory days. I started this blog a little over a year ago and it has since evolved into something I really enjoy. Do I one day aspire to be a professional sports writer? Possibly. My dream job is being a general manager of a professional hockey team. My mood is hopelessly attached to whether the Rangers win or lose on a given night. I despise Sidney Crosby, loathe Martin Brodeur, and think Ricky Dipietro uses more hair products than any man should ever use. My name is Ryan McFadden and I am the editor of The Manic Ranger blog. Be sure to comment whether you like what I have to say or not. I can be reached by e-mail at tmrangerblog (at) gmail.com

Brad Richards Or Patrick Marleau Could Be In Rangers Sights

Not that I would like the Rangers to be interested in either center, it's very likely that they will  make a phone call or too to check the availability of either player. There have been rumors that Patrick Marleau was being shopped by the Sharks as they are trying to revamp their roster and make changes. Brad Richards is coming off a seson where he broke his wrist and then broke his left hand almost immediately after returning to lineup. He obviously has a history with Tortorella and for the right price the Stars could move him after they had an awful season. The question for the Stars is whether or not they think they're a bad team or just had a bad year. With the Rangers seemingly out of the running for Heatley, the assets that would have been flipped for him can be used on Richards or Marleau. Despite a large cap hit at $7.8 million, Richards only has two seasons remaining on his contract. A trade for Richards would most definitely send Michal Rozsival as part of the package to the Stars. They were rumored to have almost traded for him during the season. Marleau has a cap hit of $6.3 and has one year left. I'd rather the Rangers sit back and give Dubinsky and Anisimov a shot at centering Gaborik. But I guess this is New York and the attitude is win now or go home. Then again, Sather did sign Brashear and he did sign Gaborik so who knows what he's planning on doing.

if they're willing to trade and pay these chumps 7+ mill.....i can't see letting cammalleri go for 6mill....and hossa go for 5mill.....if you're going to pay that kind of money at least get a hossa talet back.....gaborik if he's healthy will be fine...i dont like either one of these guys they might trade for though.

I'm against either of these trades, but just speculating, it would make sense in Sathers eyes.

At the very least though, both players have short term deals. I'd be happier with Marleau just b/c i think it would take less to get him and if things dont work out he can walk next summer.

Richards is great, he can do it all but another guy coming off an injury riddled season? Don't forget, Chris Higgins had 3 injuries last season as well.

I don't really HATE them, but i don't like them at all. I can live with Brashear as much as it disgusts me, he was once another teams animal, now he's our animal. Not sure how i feel about that.

I wouldnt mind Marleau coming as he can provide offense. Also, he could replace some of the leadership lost in Gomez and Naslund. As for Richards i don't really care much for him... Either way we need a #1 Center so either 1 would be ok.
