About TMR

I've played hockey my entire life and have always been a die hard Rangers fan. Now that I'm done chasing the dream, I play in a few beer leagues but it just isn't the same as the glory days. I started this blog a little over a year ago and it has since evolved into something I really enjoy. Do I one day aspire to be a professional sports writer? Possibly. My dream job is being a general manager of a professional hockey team. My mood is hopelessly attached to whether the Rangers win or lose on a given night. I despise Sidney Crosby, loathe Martin Brodeur, and think Ricky Dipietro uses more hair products than any man should ever use. My name is Ryan McFadden and I am the editor of The Manic Ranger blog. Be sure to comment whether you like what I have to say or not. I can be reached by e-mail at tmrangerblog (at) gmail.com

NHL Trade Rumors: Jay Bouwmeester Trade Highly Possible At NHL Draft

JayBo is a goner, and the move likely will happen at next week’s NHL draft in Montreal.

That was the candid opinion of Flyers’ general manager Paul Holmgren, Wednesday, as he met with reporters to talk about the upcoming draft in Montreal.

“I’d say there’s probably a good chance of that happening,” Holmgren said at Skate Zone, when asked whether Florida will deal defenseman Jay Bouwmeester’s rights next week.

Just as they were in the hunt during the March trade deadline, the Flyers are one of several clubs expected to make a strong pitch for the 25-year-old blue liner.

Scary. The leagues best division will be made even stronger if Jay-Bo is signed by the Flyers. The last piece of the puzzle (if Ray Emery performs) for the Flyers is a dominate defenseman. They already have one of the best offensive cores in the league with Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Claude Giroux, and Simon Gagne. Even without Jay-Bo the Flyers defense is pretty strong with emerging talents Braydon Coburn and Ryan Parent.

In order for the Flyers to sign Jay-Bo though a big contract needs to be moved and Danny Briere is the odd man out. With Richards and Carter, Briere no longer has a spot at center in the top two lines. I'm not sure if he has a NTC in contract (don't believe he does) but he might want to get used to the idea of  The Sunshine State.

Philly must be shopping Briere to get rid of that massive contract -- with the multiple injuries and recent eye surgery --- he wasn't the same in the latter part of the season, so they'll dump him to free up a lot of salary cap space....Bo would thrive in Philly. I'd then have to hate him. smilies/wink.gif

Hey nice to see you over here,

I really don't understand the Briere signing, they knew they have Richards and Carter about ready to make the jump when they signed him. Then again the Rangers did draft Montoya 6th overall when they already had Lundqvist..

Theres been rumors that he prefers the WC or one of the western canada teams. Philly would love him. Man I hate Phily sports fans..

Philly has major cap issues & no one, I repeat no one is taking Briere off Philly's hands.

IDK I wouldn't definitively say nobody will take him. The Panthers are going to need some kind of player they can market. Sort of part of the reason the Flyers signed him after the miserable season they had the year before. They have the cap space and they get a very good player for pretty much nothing.
